Nisha Krishnan is an Indian film and television actress who has appeared in Tamil films and serials. After making her breakthrough portraying Draupadi in the TV series Mahabharatham and hosting shows such as Surya Vanakkam on Sun TV, she has gone on to appear in supporting roles in feature films.[1]

Career[edit]

Nisha started her acting as a college student in Vijay TV's Kana Kannum Kalangal Kalloriyin Kadhai and later appeared in Saravanan Meenatchi as Thenmozhi. Nisha Krishnan made her breakthrough portraying Draupadi in the TV series Mahabharatham and subsequently went on to host shows such as Surya Vanakkam, Kitchen Galatta and Sun Singer(Season- 2) and appeared in the TV series Deivamagal as Ragini on Sun TV.[2]

As a media student, she was actively involved in short film-making during her education and collaborated with them when making the films Bench Talkies - The First Bench (2015) and Chennai Ungalai Anbudan Varaverkirathu (2015). She has also gone on to appear in supporting roles in feature films, notably portraying roles in Ivan Veramathiri (2013) and Naan Sigappu Manithan (2014).[3]

Personal life[edit]

Nisha Krishnan got engaged to actor Ganesh Venkatraman in February 2015, and the pair got married on 22 November 2015.In March 2019 she gave birth to their first child Samaira.[4][5][6]

Kana Kaanum Kaalangal (Tamil: கனா காணும் காலங்கள்) was a Tamildramasoap opera aired on weekdays on STAR Vijay.[1][2] It is first Indian television drama to focus solely on adolescence and school life and became a trend setter and topped the TRP of Tamil serials. A sequel to the serial called Kana Kaanum Kaalangal Kallooriyin Kadhai has been made.[3][4][5][6][7][8] Later another sequel to the serial called Kana Kaanum Kalangal Kalloori Saalai was made, Both the sequels were focussed on college life.

STAR Vijay conducted a talent search and students between 14 and 22 years were shortlisted and selected for the serial except Hemalatha and Ligeswaran who had prior acting experience all others were students who were acting for the first time with an emphasis to make as natural as possible with real life emphasis with actors using there natural language, slangs and make it very close to real school life.[11][12] It is also being re-aired on STAR Vijay Super from 16 January 2017, Monday through Friday at 8:00PM (IST).
